Finally, after a few months of solidifying things… ie: frequenting wedding expos, driving to destinations, and generally changing our minds a few thousand times, we have settled on Kaikoura as the place for our wedding good times and organized a church and a venue.

The wedding will be on Saturday January 17 2009. We will be having informal drinks and nibbles (at the Whaler, main road Kaikoura township) after the rehearsal on Friday 15th, and a BYO picnic/bbq at a destination to be decided (but more than likely the Fairways Resort at the front of the newly developed Kaikoura Golf Course, South of the town) on the 18th for further chilled out celebrations at which a few more friends will come and celebrate with us.

I am in the middle of sending out save the date cards – that are a bit wanky, but necessary as Kaik’s is steaming ahead in full holiday mode over our dates – so those invited can start booking accomadation and also give us an idea of numbers.

We are only allowed 100 at our reception venue (which is a mini secret at this stage) but it has been TOTALLY PAINFULL coming down to 100, especially given that my family alone is nearly 50 all by themselves! Cost is obviously a huge factor and you should all know that if we had it our way we would have everyone we love all together on the night, but unfortunately we can’t We have devised a plan to tackle this so that everyone we are unable to feed can be there is some way, shape or form for continuing celebrations.
